Legends represent at US Youth National Championships

This summer Legends FC sent four girls teams to US Youth National Championships in Frisco, Texas, the most of any club in SoCal, the State and even the Region. Over the last 5 years the club had 13 teams earn bids to compete in the US Youth National Championships, with the G99 team repeating appearances on five occasions. Legends FC narrowly missed sending six teams this summer with two teams losing in Region Finals.

Making a Regional and/or National event is no small feat, players and coaches spend countless hours on and off the field working to better themselves, compete year round in one of the country's toughest regions to earn their spot. Here’s a look at how they got there.

The youngest of the teams to represent were Legends FC 02 Academy who took second in the 2016-17 National League Blue Division to reach the National Championships. The side went 4-1-2 in the season, scoring 15 total goals and allowing only four. At the National event they won two games and tied one missing out on advancing on goal differential.

Making their first appearance, Legends FC 01 Academy went 4-0-3 in National League White Division. In a very competitive group, Legends FC outscored its opponents throughout league play, 12-to-4. Headed into the last weekend of National League play, the G01 side knew it had earn 1 point to claim the National League title and advance, they succeeded. The girls faced difficult group at the National Championships and left the competition missing out by goal differential after going 2-0-1.

After winning a National Championship in 2015 the Legends FC 00 Academy won the National League White Division with a record of five wins and two ties. Throughout the season, Legends FC outscored its opponents 17-to-6. With a repeat turn to Frisco the team went 1-1-1 missing out on advancing on goal differential.

The Legends FC 99 Academy girls are no newbies when it comes to competing for a National Championship having won in 2013 and 2015. They won the National League Red Division title with an undefeated 5-0-2 record to advance to their fifth straight US Youth Soccer National Championships. Legends scored 13 goals on its way to their second National League title while allowing just six goals against. Competing at the event the G99 team won their bracket advancing to the semi finals narrowly missing out on the final after losing in overtime.

The Legends FC family is proud of the accomplishments these girls and coaches have achieved. Their unparalleled committed will not go unnoticed and we will be back for redemption in the 2018 series.
